How can I change my Microsoft password

The move to Microsoft services has been widespread, and just about everything uses our county login information to allow us to sign in. Unfortunately, this means if you are locked out of your account, you are locked out of many county services.

Assuming you've set up Self-Service Password Reset, you can use the following link to reset your password: https://passwordreset.microsoftonline.com/

You will need to enter your @brunswickncsheriff.gov account address and follow the prompts provided. IT recommends that you authenticate yourself in the password reset system by having it send a text to your phone, but if you've set up other methods (such as an authenticator app), you can use any one of those instead.

Once you have finished resetting your password, it will take up to 15 minutes for the changes to synchronize across all county services. Keep in mind that there are other services that use your county login information, so if you change your password for one, it changes for all of those tied-in services. If you are ever unsure that something requires your county login information, and it is a verified state or local government online resource, then just check if it brings you to a Microsoft sign in page. If it does, then it's safe to assume that your county login is required. The only exception to this rule is eWarrants which requires a different account login.
