The app allows the user to search for offenders [...]]]> The NC Dept of Justice has released an iphone app designed to offer the public a quick way to find registered sex offenders who live in North Carolina. This app is part of the Attorney General’s mission to protect and inform the citizens of North Carolina.

The app allows the user to search for offenders by GPS location and street address. It displays detailed information about a particular sex offender including their offenses and latest photos when available. The app also allows the user to signup for email alerts for a particular offender.

Never send or [...]]]> We would like to remind everyone about various scams that have been affecting senior citizens.  Callers are advising that family members are in jail out of state and need money wired for bond.  Another scam involves callers who are attempting to obtain your sensitive personal information in order to provide medical equipment.

Never send or wire money or give out personal information such as credit card numbers and expiration dates, bank account numbers, dates of birth, or social security numbers to unfamiliar companies or unknown persons.

If you have information about a fraud, report it to state, local, or federal law enforcement agencies.

I am very happy to announce that last week we started our Citizens Academy # 11! I could not be more pleased with the number of Brunswick County citizens interested in attending our academy and after the completion of the course, the number of graduates who volunteer their time and services assisting us at the Sheriff’s Office. Time after time as I walk through the Sheriff’s Office, I see the new faces of volunteers helping with different projects or assisting our office staff with that extra set of hands to lighten our workload, so we can focus on more of the community’s needs. “Remarkable” is the only word that I can use to describe the degree of success we have had from the first class until now. The many  contributions the volunteers have made to the Sheriff’s Office, as well as the enthusiasm they bring, adds new life and ideas
to our office each day. They enthusiastically seek to find where they can fit in to help! As I first said, “Remarkable” is the best word to describe our program and volunteers. Anyone interested in attending classes in the future should contact First Sergeant Tolley at 910-253-2708.

I would also like to thank my Citizens Academy Staff who coordinate to get this program started for each new class. My sincere thanks to everyone for all that you do to make the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office the best it can be for the citizens of Brunswick County!

The employees were forced to hand over [...]]]> Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Detectives are searching for two male subjects that were involved in an armed robbery in Calabash late Sunday evening.

At approximately 10:18pm on October 30th, two subjects entered the Food Lion in Calabash, located at 9869 Ocean Hwy W, concealing their identity through masks. The employees were forced to hand over an undetermined amount of US currency before fleeing the business.

Both suspects are between 5’9” and 5’10” weighing approximately 150-180 lbs. 1st suspect was wearing all black and the 2nd suspect had a blue sweat shirt on and beige tennis shoes. Both had on green Halloween masks. The suspects fled from the business on foot and traveled in an unknown direction.

Sheriff Ingram is offering up to a $500.00 reward for the arrest and conviction of the subjects responsible for the robbery.
