Sheriff John Ingram, along with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office, would like to congratulate the fifth grade students at Town Creek Elementary who graduated Friday from the D.A.R.E. program. Approximately 62 students completed the ten week course under the leadership of Lieutenant Todd Coring. Lt. Coring: “I am very proud of these kids! Everyone did a great job!”

The D.A.R.E. program curricula focuses on the abuse of gateway drugs (tobacco, alcohol, marijuana and inhalants). The program offers preventive strategies to enhance protective factors ‐ especially bonding to family, school and community. Three students were recognized as essay winners during the graduation ceremony. Judge Marion Warren was the guest speaker.

More information on the D.A.R.E. program can be found on the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office website at www.brunscosheriff.com.

Sheriff John Ingram, along with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Chaplain Corps, hosted their 3rd Annual Sheriff’s Prayer Breakfast on May 2. This event is held every year and coincides with the National Day of Prayer. Representatives from multiple law enforcement agencies throughout the county and beyond, as well as elected officials, were in attendance.

Brunswick County Chaplain Paul Bauer, who has an extensive background in law enforcement and is currently a Licensed Professional Counselor and author, was the guest speaker for the event. Paul served as the Day-Shift Commander of the Emergency Operations Center of the World Trade Center Rescue and Recovery in the days and months following 9/11 and spoke about the power of prayer in his life during that time.

Sheriff Ingram spoke briefly about the need for prayer in his life and emphasized how prayer can enhance one’s spiritual life. He encouraged all to pray for country and community and also for the safety of our law enforcement community.

The event was held at Southport Baptist Church’s Christian Center. The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Quartet and Honor Guard also participated in the event.
