The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Fraud Unit completed a ten month long investigation into a personal bank account taken over by an in-home health care worker. In October 2011, Mr. Kenneth Ray Nash of Leland reported that someone had taken over his personal checking account and removed over $260,000.00 from same.

After a thorough investigation conducted by the Sheriff’s Office Fraud Unit with assistance of Investigators from BB&T, Time Warner Cable, and Progress Energy; over 1600 bank transactions were identified and further investigation led to the identification of an in-home aid provided to Mr. Nash back in 2009.

Lisa Veronica McClain of Wilmington was employed by a local in home health care company and assigned to Mr. Nash. During McClain’s employment with Mr. Nash, she is alleged to have taken cash money, prescription pain medications and personal checking account information belonging to Mr. Nash. McClain then enlisted the assistance of several other friends in order to further a scheme of a debt consolidation/bill pay service; and used Mr. Nash’s funds to pay the bills of the individuals she and the other persons collected cash proceeds from as part of the scheme.
