For Immediate Release

At approximately 2pm this afternoon, Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Deputies attempted to serve felony warrants to Tyler Gray Hughes, 21, at 375 High Hills Drive in Shallotte. When officers arrived at the residence, Mr. Hughes fled into the wooded area behind the residence. At that time, Hughes’ pit bull “Beast” charged Deputy Andrew Lentz. When the dog was approximately 5 feet from him, Dep. Lentz fired two shots, killing the animal instantly.

Officers were unable to locate Tyler Hughes, who is currently wanted for multiple felony charges including two counts of breaking and entering, two counts of larceny after breaking and entering, larceny of a firearm and injury to real property.

Brunswick County Sheriff's Office Arrest Two for Sexual Offenses and Child Abuse

Amos Lavon Hardy, 36, of Carolina Beach Rd., Wilmington has been charged with 70 counts of first degree sex offense with a child. These charges are in addition to his previous charges on 02/10/14 for four counts of sex offense parental role, three counts statutory rape/sexual offense and second degree rape.

The incidents occurred between 2006 and 2014 and occurred at various locations to include Southport, NC. The female victim was between the ages of 8 and 16 years at the time of the assaults.

Wilmington Police Department has also served warrants on behalf of the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office who charged Angela Renee Wallace, 36, also of Carolina Beach Rd., in Wilmington, with 40 counts of felony child abuse -sexual act.

Hardy is currently in jail in Brunswick County under a $600,500 bond. Wallace is also behind bars in New Hanover County under a $750,000 bond.

Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Fire Investigation Task Force arrested Stephanie Woods Thomas, 37, of Ocean Hwy., Supply yesterday for solicitation to obtain property by false pretense and obtaining property by false pretense. Jason Terry Rollins, 31, of Windward Dr., Supply was also charged with conspiracy to obtain property by false pretense.

Thomas was detained for a short time into the Brunswick County Detention Facility and was released under a $10,000 bond.  Rollins remains in the Brunswick County Detention Facility under a $56,000 bond.

Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Detectives, along with the State Bureau of Investigations, have arrested two in connection to a house fire that took place on 09/17/2013.

Stephanie Woods Thomas and Jason Terry Rollin have both been charged with second degree arson and felony conspiracy to commit arson.

The home was located on Clemmons Road in Bolivia.

Both Thomas and Rollin are currently being detained in the Brunswick County Detention Facility under a $50,000 secured bond. ###

Armed Robbery Arrests

Timothy Ne’Kos  McMillan and Tiffany Rose Parish turned themselves into the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office around 9:00pm yesterday.
McMillan was charged with Attempted Robbery-Dangerous Weapon, First Degree Burglary, Robbery with Dangerous Weapon, Felony Larceny and two counts of Second Degree Kidnapping.  He is currently being detained in the Brunswick County Detention Facility under a $500,000 secured bond.
Parish was charged with Felony Larceny and was released this morning under a $10,000 bond.

This continues to be an ongoing investigation.

Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office detectives have arrested two individuals in connection to armed robberies in the Southport area occurring between 08/26/13 and 08/27/13.

Jessica Joann Barnes, 18, of E. Boling Spring Lakes Rd., in Southport has been charged with one count of Robbery with Dangerous Weapon, one count of Attempted Robbery-Dangerous Weapon, one count of First Degree Burglary, and two counts of Second Degree Kidnapping. Barnes is currently being detained in the Brunswick County Detention Center under a $500,000 bond.

Brittany Nichole Watson, 21, of Jabbertown Rd. in Southport has been charged with one count of Robbery with Dangerous Weapon, one count of Attempted Robbery-Dangerous Weapon, one count of First Degree Burglary, and two counts of Second Degree Kidnapping. Watson is currently being detained in the Brunswick County Detention Center under a $500,000 bond.

Detectives are also looking for Timothy Ne’Kos McMillan, 21, of 1005 N. 30thStreet in Wilmington. McMillan is wanted for similar charges of Robbery, Burglary, and Kidnapping, also in the Southport area.

Additionally, detectives are looking for Tiffany Parish, 20, also of 1005 N. 30th Street in Wilmington, a person of interest in the armed robbery investigation. Parish has active warrants and is currently wanted for an unrelated larceny charge. This investigation is still active and ongoing and additional arrests are expected. Charles Howard Peele has been located in Little River, SC.  He is currently in custody with the Horry County Sheriff’s Office and is facing charges in that jurisdiction.  He will eventually be transported to Brunswick County where he will face charges from our area as well.

Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Detectives, along with Sunset Beach Police Department, are looking for Charles Howard Peele, 38, of Pelican Roost Dr. SW in Supply.

Peele has outstanding warrants for six counts of felony larceny which includes nearly $18,000 in personal property, mainly golf bags and clubs. The larcenies occurred between 06/14/2013 and 06/17/2013 in the South end of Brunswick County.
